Bilaspur :  In a striking departure from conventional political celebrations, Chhattisgarh Sarafa Association president Kamal Soni took to the streets of Bilaspur to mark the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) victory in West Bengal, distributing jhalmuri among residents and passersby in a gesture that quickly drew public attention.
The roadside celebration, held in a busy market stretch, saw Soni personally serving the popular snack to people, turning the moment into a participative event rather than a routine political gathering. Supporters and local residents joined in, with many stopping by to interact and share the celebratory mood.
Soni said the initiative was aimed at expressing gratitude and joy over what he described as a significant political development. Referring to the party’s organisational efforts, he said workers from Bilaspur had actively contributed during the campaign period and the outcome reflected sustained groundwork and public support. He acknowledged the guidance of senior leadership and credited coordinated efforts for the electoral success.
Observers noted that the choice of a simple, street-level celebration added a distinctive touch, moving away from typical rallies or formal events. The distribution of jhalmuri, a snack commonly associated with eastern India, also symbolically linked the celebration to the poll outcome in West Bengal.
The gathering witnessed a steady flow of citizens, many of whom expressed curiosity at the unconventional format. The event unfolded in a largely informal setting, with no stage or elaborate arrangements, yet managed to generate considerable engagement at the local level.
Participants exchanged greetings and congratulated one another, while the atmosphere remained upbeat throughout the interaction. The initiative, organisers said, was intended to connect directly with people and celebrate in a manner that resonated with everyday public life rather than limiting it to party circles.
