Raipur/Tilda : Reinforcing its commitment to sustainable rural development and ecological preservation, the Adani Foundation on Thursday launched a large-scale plantation drive in Moharenga village under Tilda block. The initiative, focused on promoting community forests, saw the plantation of 15,000 saplings across 12 acres of land with active participation from over 300 residents.
The saplings comprised fruit-bearing, medicinal, and shade-giving species, chosen to maximise both environmental and livelihood benefits. The programme was conducted under Adani Group’s broader commitment to plant 100 million trees across India by 2030.
Speaking at the site, representatives from Adani Power Tilda stated, “This campaign is a step towards nurturing green assets in rural landscapes. Community participation is central to our approach, and the villagers’ enthusiasm reaffirms the shared value of environmental stewardship.”
To ensure long-term impact, a dedicated village-level monitoring committee was constituted to oversee sapling care, prevent grazing damage, and encourage collective accountability. The plantation event also became a community celebration, drawing families, self-help groups, and students into a common environmental cause.
Moharenga Sarpanch Shyama Bai Dhiwar appreciated the initiative and said, “This isn’t just plantation, it’s a promise of a greener, healthier tomorrow for our children.”
Adani Foundation officials confirmed that 10,000 saplings had already been planted earlier in the year with student participation, making this the second phase of the campaign in the region.
