SECL Launches ‘Swachhotsav 2025’ with Focus on Zero-Waste, E-Waste Recycling

Bilaspur : South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has rolled out its annual “Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2025” under the theme ‘Swachhotsav: Clean and Green Festivities, Zero-Waste Community Celebrations’, placing a sharp spotlight on waste management and e-waste recycling. The campaign, will run till October 2 as the preparatory phase of the Government of India’s Special Campaign 5.0.

The initiative was inaugurated with the administration of the Swachhata Pledge at SECL headquarters and across all operational areas. A symbolic rangoli was created at the company’s Bilaspur headquarters to spread the message of cleanliness and inspire participation among employees.
SECL has identified e-waste management as its key thrust area this year, launching collection and recycling drives to encourage responsible disposal of obsolete electronics. Alongside, the campaign will feature cloth banner installations in prominent public spaces, awareness programs, street plays, cleanliness competitions, plantation activities under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, and felicitation ceremonies to honour sanitation workers (safai mitras).

The implementation phase of Special Campaign 5.0 will follow from October 2 to 31, aimed at institutionalizing cleanliness practices, strengthening sustainability measures, and reducing pendency across government offices. SECL’s performance in last year’s Special Campaign 4.0 set a benchmark for Coal India subsidiaries, with the company exceeding targets in site cleaning, scrap disposal, and space management. It also secured the highest visibility through media coverage, including maximum social media engagement and press releases among coal PSUs. With Swachhotsav 2025, SECL now seeks to consolidate its leadership in driving the national cleanliness mission, aligning environmental sustainability with community participation.
