Ending Half Electricity Scheme a Blow to Consumers: Atma Singh Kshatriya

Mungeli : Former Chairman of Mungeli Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Atma Singh Kshatriya, launched a scathing attack on the Vishnu Deo Sai-led BJP government for discontinuing the previous Congress regime’s “Half Electricity Bill Scheme”, alleging that the move has burdened common consumers amidst rising inflation.
Kshatriya stated that the pro-people scheme initiated during the Bhupesh Baghel government provided up to 400 units of free electricity, benefitting lakhs of households. He criticised the current BJP government’s decision to limit the concession to only 100 units, calling it a betrayal of public trust.
“This arbitrary and inhumane decision has come as a shock to the people already struggling with inflation. The move is nothing short of Tughlaqi,” said Kshatriya.
He further added that the Congress party, under the direction of its state leadership, would launch a public movement against the decision in collaboration with the people. “The government must realise that the public will not tolerate injustice anymore. The Congress will reach out to every consumer and strongly oppose this dictatorial move,” he said.
