• Collaborative initiative bridges the gap between academic theory and railway industrial practices, certificates distributed at valedictory ceremony
A 12-day industrial training workshop on “Knowledge Enhancement of Loco Shed Technicians of Indian Railways” concluded today at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur. The program was organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering in collaboration with the Continuing Education Cell (CEC) from January 12 to January 23, 2026.
The valedictory session was graced by Shri Saurabh Singh, Senior DME, South Eastern Central Railway (SECR), as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries included Dr. S. Sanyal (Dean, Corporate Relations), Dr. S. Gupta (Dean Academics), Dr. S. Ghosh (Chairman, CEC), and Dr. Sachin Jain (Head of the Electrical Engineering Department).
In his keynote address, Chief Guest Shri Saurabh Singh highlighted that training is essential for upgrading skills in an evolving technical landscape. He noted the critical shift from mechanical to electrical systems in railway operations and urged that future workshops be made even more hands-on to simulate real-world industrial environments. He also interacted with the technicians to gather feedback for future curriculum improvements.
During the workshop, participants received practical training on fundamental concepts, including wiring of measuring instruments, protective systems, and the functioning of single-phase and three-phase transformers. Dr. Sachin Jain and Dr. S. Gupta noted that such initiatives are vital for maintaining academic and professional excellence. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants and a formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof. S. Patnaik.
