Second PCB Trophy Floodlight Cricket Tournament Concludes at Tara

Ambikapur : The second edition of the PCB Trophy Floodlight Cricket Tournament concluded successfully at the Tara High School Ground, organised with the support of Adani Foundation, the CSR arm of RRVUNL, in collaboration with the Tara Gram Panchayat. The 13-day tournament witnessed participation from 32 teams representing the Surajpur, Surguja and Korba districts.

The initiative aimed to encourage rural youth towards positive development through sports and to promote resilience, teamwork and discipline in challenging circumstances.

The grand finale saw a thrilling contest between the Tara Police Team and Shivnandanpur Team. Shivnandanpur emerged as the champion and was awarded a cash prize of ₹1,00,001 along with the PCB Trophy. The Tara Police Team finished as runner-up and received ₹41,000 along with the runner-up trophy. Around 400 to 500 spectators were present during the final, creating a festive atmosphere in the region.

Several dignitaries graced the closing ceremony, including Premnagar MLA Bhullan Singh Maravi, District Panchayat Member Nayan Sirdar, Tara Sarpanch Sampatiya Devi, Mukesh Kumar, Chief of Cluster, Adani Enterprises Limited (Parsa), Bipin Singh, Site Head (PEKB Parsa), Premnagar’s Vijay Sirdar, Tara Deputy Sarpanch Jeenet Parveen, Mandal President Mithila Banjara, and Town Inspector Bishi Singh of the Surajpur Police, along with other public representatives and community members.

The successful organisation of the tournament was supported significantly by the Tara Youth Committee, in which around 30 young volunteers including Chandrabhan Singh, Shahbaz, Ashish Yadav and Sunny played an active role.

Addressing the gathering, Mukesh Kumar, Chief of Cluster, Adani Enterprises Limited, said that the Adani Foundation remains committed to community development and youth empowerment. Such sporting platforms, he noted, not only nurture talent but also strengthen social unity and leadership among young people.

MLA Bhullan Singh Maravi described the tournament as a motivating initiative for rural youth and praised Adani Foundation’s efforts in promoting sports culture in the region.

The Adani Foundation also announced that similar tournaments would be organised annually on a larger scale to provide wider opportunities to rural youth. The Foundation, the CSR arm of the Adani Group, is actively engaged in education, healthcare, livelihood and community development initiatives across the country, with a strong focus on youth empowerment and inclusive growth through sports and leadership development.
