Seminar on “Value Education for Stress Management” at NIT Raipur, Practical Guidance to Students on Suicide Prevention

Raipur : On the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September 2025), the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, NIT Raipur, organized a seminar on the theme *“Stress Management through Value Education.”* The chief guest of the program was the institute’s Acting Director, Dr. A. B. Soni. Dr. S. Sanyal and Dr. Manoj Chopkar were also specially present, along with faculty member Dr. Heena Chawda and a large number of students.

The seminar emphasized raising awareness about mental health, breaking myths related to suicide, and adopting a value-based lifestyle. Dr. Soni highlighted the need to promote values and spiritual culture in the education system, while Dr. Chawda discussed the psychological aspects of suicide and depression, underlining self-confidence, healthy relationships, and positive thinking as the foundation of life. A student-made video on the causes and solutions of suicide was also presented.

In the interactive session, Dr. Sanyal gave students practical tips on academic management and life skills. He described *time management* as the key to success and suggested adopting simple practices like maintaining a “to-do list.” He also advised students to ensure regular class attendance, participate actively in clubs and committees, and pursue hobbies of their interest. He emphasized that such activities not only enhance academic performance but also help in reducing stress and boosting self-confidence.
