NTPC Sipat Marks Gandhi Jayanti with Cleanliness Drive, Pays Tribute to National Leaders

Sipat : On the solemn occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Sipat paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and India’s second Prime Minister, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. The day-long observance on 2nd October 2025 was marked by rallies, pledge-taking, felicitation of sanitation workers, and a special cleanliness drive, reflecting NTPC’s enduring commitment to community welfare and environmental stewardship.
Under the leadership of Executive Director and Head of Project, Shri Vijay Krishna Pandey, a ‘Prabhat Pheri’ (morning rally) was taken out to spread awareness on cleanliness as part of the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada, themed under ‘Swachhotsav’. The rally was followed by a formal ceremony at the township premises where floral tributes were offered to Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. Participants also took a cleanliness pledge, reaffirming their commitment to keeping their surroundings clean.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Pandey urged employees and residents to imbibe the values of truth, simplicity, and selfless service exemplified by Gandhi Ji and Shastri Ji. He underlined the relevance of Swachhta Pakhwada, calling upon everyone to contribute actively towards realizing the vision of a Clean India.
As part of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’, Safai Mitras (sanitation workers) were felicitated with mementoes by the Head of Project and senior officials in recognition of their invaluable role in maintaining public hygiene.
A special cleanliness drive was conducted at the Sipat Sabzi Haat (local vegetable market), where NTPC officials, employees, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, and local residents joined hands to clean the marketplace and promote hygiene awareness among vendors and customers.
The programmes witnessed the presence of senior officials including Shri Swapan Kumar Mandal, Chief General Manager (Project), Shri Surojit Sinha, General Manager (Operation and Maintenance), Shri Jayaprakash Satyakam, Additional General Manager (Human Resources), CISF Deputy Commandant Shri Kapil Sudhakar Kamdi, along with members of the union, association, and a large number of employees and CISF personnel.
It is noteworthy that from 17th September to 2nd October 2025, NTPC Sipat carried out a series of activities under Swachhta Pakhwada including cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, and environmental conservation programmes, with enthusiastic participation from local residents, school children, and employees—further strengthening the organisation’s commitment to nation-building and community service.
