Korba : As part of its unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility and the promotion of grassroots sports, NTPC Korba, in collaboration with the Chhattisgarh Football Association (CFA), has launched the Senior Women’s Inter-District State Football Championship and Coaching Camp under its CSR budget for FY 2025–26.
This initiative reflects NTPC Korba’s long-standing vision to foster sporting talent, promote community engagement, and empower rural youth—particularly women—through structured sporting opportunities. Since its inception in 2016, the program has played a pivotal role in nurturing several state, national, and international-level football players.
The football initiative follows a three-phase development model:
– 7-day Inter-District Tournament – District teams compete in selection trials.
– 21-day Coaching Camp – Top 30 players are trained to form the State team.
– Final Selection – 15–18 outstanding players are chosen to represent the Chhattisgarh State Women’s Football Team.
The Senior Women’s Inter-District State Football Championship began on 8th August 2025 at the NTPC Korba grounds, featuring eight dynamic teams:
– DFA Raipur
– DFA Balod
– DFA Durg
– DFA Bastar
– DFA Bijapur
– DFA Korba
– DFA Narayanpur
– DFA Bilaspur
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Vinod Kolhatkar, Chief Medical Officer, NTPC Korba, as the Chief Guest. His address inspired participants to strive for excellence and highlighted NTPC Korba’s commitment to promoting women in sports.
After days of spirited competition, the grand final on 13th August 2025 will witness an exciting face-off between DFA Bastar and DFA Durg, two teams that have demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the tournament.
Through such initiatives, NTPC Korba continues to strengthen its role as a community-centric organization, driving holistic development by empowering women athletes, fostering inclusion, and creating pathways for local talent to shine at state and national levels.
