Children participate in creative contests to spread awareness on ozone protection.

• Schools celebrate World Ozone Day with essay and painting contests

°  609 students, 51 teachers took part in activities
°  Events held across five schools in Surguja district

°  Prize winners encouraged to champion environment

Ambikapur : World Ozone Day 2025 was celebrated with enthusiasm across schools in Surguja district, where essay and painting competitions were organised under the theme “From Science to Global Action.” Supported by Adani Foundation, the events aimed at educating students on the need to protect the ozone layer, maintain ecological balance, and secure a healthier planet for coming generations.

Competitions were conducted in Government High School and Middle School at Chakeri, Government Middle School at Basan, Government High School at Tara, and Adani Vidya Mandir at Salhi. Together, 609 students and 51 teachers participated, underlining the strong response to the awareness campaign held around the Parsa East Kete Basan (PEKB) and Parsa coal block areas.

At High School Chakeri, the essay contest saw Rahul Singh (Class 9) emerge first, followed by Jagannath Singh (Class 10) and Anuj Singh (Class 10). In Middle School Chakeri’s painting contest, Vivek (Class 8) stood first, while Sangita (Class 8) and Riya (Class 6) bagged second and third positions.

Government Middle School Basan, led by Principal Bharat Singh, saw Bhagwati (Class 7) secure first place, with Sakshi (Class 6) and Monu Vishwakarma (Class 8) finishing second and third. At Adani Vidya Mandir, Salhi, Kalpana (Class 7) won the painting contest, Bhumi Bharti (Class 8) and Ragini (Class 8) shared second place, and Nishu (Class 6) came third.

Meanwhile, at High School Tara, Principal Bhanuprabha guided the programme where Geeta (Class 11) topped, with Satpal (Class 11) and Deepak Kumar (Class 11) placed second and third.

Principals Khirwar Prasad Singh and Shobhit Das distributed prizes to the winners. The celebrations highlighted Adani Foundation’s commitment to environmental protection and community participation in safeguarding the ozone layer.
