
• ‘Swaachh Bharat- Swasth Bharat’ message conveyed to villagers through cultural performances and awareness rally
The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office Jagdalpur, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, organized a special awareness program today under ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ at village Erikpal in Bakawand block of Bastar district. The program utilized diverse platforms such as music, drama, rallies, and seminars to inspire villagers and students toward cleanliness.
The event was formally inaugurated in the graceful presence of Village Sarpanch Shri Santosh Kumar Kashyap, High School Principal Smt. Meena Jadhav, UNICEF District Coordinator Shri Sudhanshu Pandey, and Shri Saurabh Gaur from the Health Department. During the program, experts emphasized making cleanliness an integral part of one’s lifestyle.
Shri Saurabh Gaur, Supervisor of the Health Department (Government of Chhattisgarh), briefed the audience on the nuances of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Meanwhile, UNICEF District Coordinator Shri Sudhanshu Pandey stated, “The dream of a Healthy India can only be realized by bringing about a change in behavior.” He shared detailed information on the correct technique of handwashing and the complete cessation of plastic use. The Village Sarpanch and the Principal also addressed the gathering, describing cleanliness as a collective community responsibility.
A massive awareness rally was organized in the village, which was flagged off by Sarpanch Shri Santosh Kumar Kashyap. Additionally, 10 artists from the Bastar Vikas evam Seva Sansthan, Kondagaon, delivered informative and entertaining performances to spread the message of hygiene. In the painting competition held for students, Sikandar secured the first position, Ayushi second, and Lata third; all were rewarded by the department.
The entire program was conducted in an engaging and entertaining manner by senior litterateur Shri Shashank Sridhar Shende. At the conclusion of the event, In-charge Shri B.S. Dhruve expressed his gratitude to all the guests, local villagers, and students present.
