Mungeli : The Annapurna Campaign has rekindled hope in the life of a destitute family in Chilhfi village of Lormi development block in Mungeli district, by extending critical relief for the first time. Under this humanitarian initiative, guided by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, essential relief materials were provided on December 13, 2025, to Mr. Dhanlal Bhaskar, a resident of Chilhfi, offering much-needed support to a family battling prolonged hardship, illness, and economic distress.
Mr. Bhaskar (43) has been suffering for nearly a year from serious ailments, including blood infection and typhoid. Owing to his deteriorating health, he has been unable to pursue regular medical treatment or engage in any form of wage labour. The situation worsened after the demise of his wife around six years ago, leaving him solely responsible for the family. Persistent illness and unemployment have since pushed the household into severe deprivation.
The family comprises four minor children, all of whom are enrolled in government schools. With no stable source of income, the family does not receive any pension or social security benefits. They own neither land nor livestock, nor do they have any financial savings. The monthly allocation of 35 kg of rice under the ration card scheme has also proved insufficient to meet their basic food requirements, forcing the family to struggle even for daily meals.
In this dire situation, assistance under the Annapurna Campaign brought significant relief. The service initiative provided essential food supplies, including rice, wheat flour, pulses, cooking oil, sugar, spices, potatoes, and onions. In addition, clothes for the children, blankets, bedsheets, and steel utensils for household use were also distributed, addressing the family’s immediate needs.
Overwhelmed by the support, Mr. Bhaskar expressed gratitude, stating that the assistance had given his family a renewed sense of security and hope. Villagers, too, lauded the initiative, noting that the Annapurna Campaign has consistently emerged as a dependable source of help for families in distress.
Residents observed that such humanitarian efforts not only provide relief to hungry and vulnerable families but also strengthen the values of compassion, solidarity, and social responsibility. Through sustained outreach to the needy, the Annapurna Campaign continues to convey a powerful message—that society stands together with those facing adversity.
