Free spectacles provided immediately to 922 beneficiaries; campaign concludes after 27 eye-screening camps
RAIPUR : Timely eye screening and access to appropriate treatment can provide significant relief in people’s daily lives. With this objective, the Adani Foundation conducted eye-screening camps in rural areas around Adani Power Limited, Raipur, under its Project Vision Care.
The campaign, which commenced on August 7, continued for nearly a month and concluded successfully last week with 27 camps. The initiative aimed to take eye-health services closer to rural communities, identify people with vision-related problems and facilitate timely treatment.
During the campaign, 27 eye-screening camps were organised across 16 villages in the Raipur region. A total of 2,785 rural residents underwent eye examinations, including 1,760 men and 1,025 women.
Village-wise, 203 people were screened in Mura, 228 in Raikheda, 53 in Bhatapara, 91 in Gaitra, 77 in Khapri, 82 in Chicholi, 215 in Gaurkheda, 236 in Tarashiv, 319 in Chatod, 109 in Konari, 201 in Sontra, 175 in Khamharia, 375 in Moharenga, 184 in Bartori, 82 in Tulsi and 156 in Bahisar.
The screening identified vision-related problems in 1,556 people. Of these, 1,546 required spectacles. The Adani Foundation provided free spectacles on the spot to 922 beneficiaries. The remaining spectacles are being delivered to the respective beneficiaries after they are prepared.
Health specialists diagnosed cataracts in 171 people, while 962 people were found to have other eye-related ailments. A total of 1,133 patients were referred for further treatment and specialist consultation to ensure that they receive the necessary medical care in time.
Rural residents expressed their gratitude to the Adani Foundation for the initiative. They said that access to healthcare services in their local areas had provided relief to economically weaker families. The initiative particularly benefited senior citizens and women.
