Adani Enterprises wins climate action award for hydrogen truck in mining sector

Raipur : In a major step towards promoting green technology in India’s mining sector, Adani Enterprises Limited has been honoured with the ‘Jury Choice Leadership in Climate Action Award’ at the third edition of the Sustainability Symposium and Excellence Awards 2025.
The award was conferred at a ceremony held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, where leading companies from across the country showcased their environmental initiatives. Adani Enterprises received the recognition for the successful deployment of a hydrogen-powered truck in mining logistics — a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at cutting carbon emissions and adopting cleaner energy.
The truck, powered by three hydrogen fuel tanks, has the capacity to carry 40 tonnes of coal up to 200 km with significantly lower noise and pollution levels. It was flagged off in May by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Raipur and is currently being used to transport coal from the Gare Pelma III mine to a power plant.
The project was awarded to Adani Enterprises through a tender process by the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited. The jury commended the company’s innovation, energy efficiency, and contribution to green logistics.
Adani Enterprises is also adopting other sustainable technologies, including autonomous dozer push technology, solar power integration, digital initiatives, and tree transplantation methods, to build environmentally responsible mining operations.
The group’s broader vision is to make India energy self-reliant, reduce dependence on conventional fuels, and expand the use of clean energy. The company also plans to add more hydrogen trucks in the future to strengthen its green logistics network.
