
Bilaspur: Dr. Geeta Singh, a social worker from Bilaspur, has been appointed the State Treasurer of the Cooperative Cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Chhattisgarh. The appointment was made under the guidance of state BJP president Kiran Singh Deo and organisation secretary Pawan Sai, with the announcement issued by Praveen Kumar Dubey, the state convener of the Cooperative Cell.
Party leaders said the responsibility was entrusted to Dr. Singh in recognition of her active involvement in social initiatives and organisational work. She has been associated with several community-based activities, particularly those focusing on women’s empowerment, self-help groups, and welfare initiatives at the grassroots level.
Her appointment has been welcomed by members of various organisations, including the Mid-Day Meal Cooks’ Welfare Association and women associated with the Bihan programme. Santoshí Kaushik, district president of the Mid-Day Meal Cooks’ Welfare Association, said Dr. Singh’s new role would strengthen the organisation and help amplify the concerns of women workers at the state level.
Several representatives of women’s groups and cooperative networks also extended their congratulations. Among them were Krishna Kanwar, Shanti Bai, Annapurna from Champa, Laxmi Mahant, Sunita Miri from Korba, Vinod Khande from Bilaspur, Gayatri Sahu from Kanker, and Rukhmani Pandey from Sivni.
They expressed confidence that Dr. Singh’s experience and dedication would help strengthen the cooperative network and further the organisation’s efforts in promoting cooperative initiatives and women-led development programmes across the state.
