Adani-backed PEKB and PCB coal mines see mass plantation of 27,220 saplings across reclaimed land
🟢 Drawing contests in six villages raise environmental awareness among 400+ schoolchildren
🟢 Company commits to sustainable mining with 15.69 lakh trees planted over 1,200 acres

Sarguja/Udaipur : Adani Enterprises Ltd, the project developer of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited’s (RRVUNL) PEKB and PCB coal blocks in Sarguja district, marked World Environment Day with a large-scale plantation campaign and public outreach programmes focused on green restoration and community awareness.
A total of 27,220 saplings were planted on reclaimed mined land—26,120 in PEKB and 2,100 in PCB—as part of a coordinated afforestation initiative spearheaded by Adani’s Environment and CSR teams. The drive was enthusiastically supported by employees, contractors, and local villagers, reinforcing the company’s commitment to eco-sustainability in operational mining zones.
In the lead-up to the plantation, a week-long series of environmental awareness programmes was conducted in the six nearby villages of Parsa, Salhi, Basen, Tara, Janardanpur, and Fattehpur. The highlight was a district-level drawing competition based on the theme “Eliminating Plastic Pollution Globally,” which drew over 400 participants from Classes 1 to 8. Children competed in two grade groups, and winners were felicitated in local ceremonies.
Environment Officer Avinash Kumar, who presided over the prize distribution, praised the young participants and encouraged them to adopt daily habits that support the planet. “This initiative reflects the strength of collective action. Environmental protection must move from events to everyday behaviour,” he said.
The plantation campaign also symbolised the culmination of a broader strategy by Adani Enterprises to restore mined land and promote biodiversity. Over the last few years, the company has planted more than 15.69 lakh trees across 1,200 acres of reclaimed mining area in the region.
Adani’s efforts, aligned with RRVUNL’s long-term vision for sustainable mining, also include upgrading local infrastructure—such as schools, sanitation, and roads—in 14 adjoining villages. The company reiterated its pledge to continue balancing development with ecological stewardship in one of Chhattisgarh’s key mining corridors.
