Mungeli : In a humanitarian effort under the Annapurna Mission, a severely distressed family in Ilachpur village (Lormi block) received essential relief assistance on Sunday. The initiative, inspired by Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj, has brought a ray of hope to a family battling acute economic and social hardship for several years.

A Life Altered by Tragedy

The head of the family, Prakash alias Premdas Manikpuri (40), suffered a grievous spinal injury years ago after a wall collapsed on him. Despite undergoing surgery, he was left permanently bedridden, rendering him unable to work. His inability to earn has pushed the family into extreme poverty.

Shelter in an Abandoned School Building

With no house, land or assets, the family has been forced to live in a closed government school building for the past four years.
The government-supplied ration of 35 kg rice per month has proven insufficient for the family of five:

1. Prakash alias Premdas Manikpuri (40)

2. Preeti Bai (35)

3. Anjita (8)

4. Varsha (6)

5. Devendra (3)

The family is also not receiving benefits from major government welfare schemes, including the Mahatari Vandana Yojana. Their two elder daughters walk 3 km daily to attend school in Baijalpur.
Preeti Bai, the only earning member, takes up labour work whenever available, but most of her meagre income is spent on Prakash’s medical needs.

Relief Material Provided Under Annapurna Mission

The Annapurna team provided a comprehensive set of essential items tailored to the family’s immediate needs. The relief package included:

25 kg rice, 5 kg wheat flour

Four varieties of pulses

2 litres cooking oil, 4 kg sugar

Tea, milk powder, spices, salt

5 kg each of potatoes and onions

Besan, dalia, pickles

Bath and laundry soap, washing powder

Two sarees, two petticoats

Two sets of children’s clothes each

Two blankets, four warm clothes

Notebooks, pens

Plastic bucket, utensils including kadhai, steel lota and glasses

Two cots with mattresses and sheets

Other necessary daily-use items

Date of distribution: 23 November 2025

Beneficiary Expresses Gratitude

A visibly emotional Prakash Manikpuri said, “Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj has helped us like God Himself. After the Almighty, we consider Maharaj Ji as our greatest support.”

Villagers Appreciate the Effort

Local resident Teklal Tandon remarked, “Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj is truly serving helpless families like a divine figure. No saint in the past ever extended even minor financial help, but Maharaj Ji’s initiative is ensuring complete support for the destitute.”

Annapurna Mission: A Beacon of Humanity

Run by the followers of Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj, the Annapurna Mission continues to serve economically and physically vulnerable families across the region. The initiative stands as a strong example of compassion-driven service at a time when the need for humanitarian support is more urgent than ever.
