Two-week Hindi language campaign to be organised across all SECL areas from September 14 to 28
Bilaspur: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) inaugurated Rajbhasha Pakhwada 2026 at its headquarters on September 12, with senior officials emphasising the importance of promoting Hindi in official communication and day-to-day office work.
The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Biranchi Das, Director (Human Resources), SECL. Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain and Director (Technical – Operations) Ramesh Chandra Mahapatra attended the programme as distinguished guests.
Heads of various departments, officers, employees and representatives of trade unions were also present at the event.
Rajbhasha Pakhwada will be observed across all SECL areas from September 14 to September 28, 2026, with various activities and competitions being organised during the fortnight.
Ceremony Begins with Saraswati Vandana
The inaugural programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and offering of floral tributes before an image of Goddess Saraswati by the chairperson and distinguished guests.
Addressing the gathering, SECL Director (HR) Biranchi Das said Hindi plays an important role in bringing people together.
“Hindi is a simple, accessible and easy-to-understand language and enjoys wide acceptance across the country. Its use in official work should be increased. I also urge all officers and employees to participate enthusiastically in the competitions being organised during Rajbhasha Pakhwada,” Das said.
Hindi Can Make Workplace Communication More Effective
Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain said Hindi provides a simple and effective means of communication among employees.
“Using Hindi in official work makes communication easier and more convenient. We should encourage greater use of Hindi in our daily work and everyone should fulfil their responsibility towards the official language,” Jain said.
Director (Technical – Operations) Ramesh Chandra Mahapatra highlighted the cultural and national significance of Hindi.
“Hindi is an important part of our rich cultural heritage and a significant foundation of national unity. Its use in official work should be promoted further. Through Hindi, we can express our thoughts more naturally and effectively. Rajbhasha Pakhwada is an important opportunity to create greater awareness in this direction,” Mahapatra said.
Messages from Union Ministers Read Out
During the programme, messages from Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy and Union Minister of State for Coal Satish Chandra Dubey were also read out.
The messages highlighted the importance of promoting the use of Hindi in official work and strengthening awareness about the official language.
Officials Briefed on Competitions and Objectives
Manager (Rajbhasha) Savita Nirmalkar briefed participants about the objectives of Rajbhasha Pakhwada and provided details of the various competitions and activities scheduled during the campaign.
The fortnight-long programme is aimed at encouraging employees to make greater use of Hindi in official communication while creating wider awareness about the importance of the official language across SECL.
