NTPC Lara Hosts 3rd Chhattisgarh State Lacrosse Championship, Showcases Rising Rural Sports Talent
Lara : Under its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives aimed at promoting sports participation among rural youth and encouraging them to excel at national and international platforms, National Thermal Power Corporation – NTPC Limited, Lara successfully organized the 3rd Chhattisgarh State Lacrosse Championship. The event was held under the aegis of the Chhattisgarh Lacrosse Association.
The championship witnessed the gracious presence of senior officials including Shri Diwakar Kaushik, Regional Executive Director, Western Region-II; Shri Anil Kumar, Executive Director and Head of Project, NTPC Lara; Shri Ravi Shankar, Chief General Manager (Projects); Shri Keshav Chandra Singh Roy, General Manager (O&M); Shri Hemant Pawgi, General Manager (Mechanical Erection); and Shri Zakir Khan, Additional General Manager (HR). Local Panchayati Raj representatives, including the Sarpanch, also attended the event and motivated the young participants.

During the championship, selection trials were conducted by Shri Devvrat Chaudhary, General Secretary, Chhattisgarh Lacrosse Association, along with other officials to identify promising players who will represent Chhattisgarh at the upcoming National Junior and Senior Boys & Girls Lacrosse Championships scheduled to be held in Jammu in December.
A total of 216 players participated this year, displaying remarkable skill, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship. All participants were acknowledged and felicitated for their active involvement. Dignitaries presented trophies to the winners, and players who recently represented India in the international match held in Japan were also specially honoured.
Through this initiative, NTPC Lara reiterates its commitment to youth development, sports promotion, and holistic community upliftment, while continuing to expand opportunities for rural sports talent in the region.
