RAIGARH: Amid questions being raised over fly ash filling in Ghathula Chhote village in the district, Adani Power Limited, based in Bade Bhandar, has clarified that the work is being carried out in accordance with prescribed regulations after obtaining all necessary administrative and environmental approvals. Rejecting allegations of regulatory violations as baseless, the company said that environmental protection, the safety of farmers’ land and compliance with departmental guidelines are among its highest priorities.

According to the company, the necessary approvals were obtained from the concerned departments before the fly ash filling process began. The prescribed conditions are being followed at every stage of the work. Adani Power said that some of the information being circulated regarding the approvals and working procedures does not correspond with the actual facts.
The company has expressed apprehension that certain vested interests are attempting to create unnecessary controversy by circulating misleading information. It has also not ruled out the possibility that such efforts may be intended to exert pressure for illegal extortion.
According to Adani Power, initially, only an access road was prepared for the proposed work in Ghathula Chhote village. During this period, the work was affected by a natural disaster, due to which the subsequent process had to be temporarily halted. After conditions returned to normal, a team from the Environment Department re-inspected the site and issued the necessary instructions for further work.
The company stated that all instructions received during the inspection are being followed. The remaining fly ash filling work will also be carried out strictly in accordance with the conditions stipulated by the concerned department and the prescribed environmental standards.
With regard to the protection of farmers’ land, Adani Power has specifically clarified that a strong embankment has been constructed around the filling site to prevent fly ash from reaching nearby agricultural fields. The company claims that fly ash has not reached the fields of any farmer so far and that this was also confirmed during the site inspection.
The company reiterated its commitment to fulfilling its environmental responsibilities and safeguarding the interests of local residents and farmers. It maintained that no regulations or conditions attached to the approvals have been violated during the fly ash filling process.
Adani Power has appealed to the concerned parties to verify the approval documents, instructions issued by the Environment Department and the actual conditions at the site before making any information public. According to the company, circulating allegations without verifying the facts creates unnecessary confusion and may lead to misconceptions about work being carried out in accordance with regulations.
According to the clarification provided by the company, fly ash filling at Ghathula Chhote is being carried out under valid statutory approvals, departmental supervision and environmental safety measures.
