Green initiative aims to plant 10,000 saplings and promote environmental conservation through community participation

RAIPUR : Planting trees, along with their regular care and protection, is essential for improving the environment. In this direction, the Adani Foundation organised a large-scale plantation programme on nearly 15 acres of land in Mura Gram Panchayat, located near Adani Power Limited, Raipur.

As part of the initiative to establish an ‘Adani Van’, 2,000 saplings were planted on Wednesday, with an overall target of planting 10,000 saplings of various fruit-bearing, shade-giving and environmentally beneficial species.
Smt. Kanchan Tokendra Gaikwad, Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Mura; Smt. Santoshi Verma, Deputy Sarpanch; Mr. Tokendra Gaikwad, Sarpanch representative; Mr. Debashish Das, Head of the Human Resources Department, Adani Power Limited, along with other officials; Mr. Jagdish Prasad Verma, Deputy Sarpanch representative; Panch Smt. Suman Diwakar and Panch Mr. Horilal were among those present at the programme.

A large number of villagers participated in the plantation drive with enthusiasm and contributed to the environmental conservation initiative. During the programme, elected representatives and villagers pledged to support the protection and preservation of the saplings planted at the site.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Debashish Das said that ‘Adani Van’ was not limited to plantation alone, but was also an effort to promote environmental conservation, climate balance and community participation over the long term. He said saplings would be planted at the site every day.
Representatives and villagers also took a pledge to protect and nurture the saplings planted during the programme.

From the Adani Foundation, Smt. Preeti Prajapati, Rajiv Ranjan, Manish Nandwana, Sumit Sahu and members of the education team also participated in the plantation drive. The team urged villagers to cooperate in the regular care and protection of the saplings.
The Adani Foundation’s initiative is aimed at increasing the green cover in Mura village while strengthening awareness about environmental conservation and community participation.
