
Rural players receive training and a competitive platform
Raipur : The positive impact of sports promotion activities undertaken by the Adani Foundation to provide better opportunities and training to sporting talents in rural areas is becoming increasingly visible. Fourteen players from Mayur Club, Khamharia, supported by the Adani Foundation, have secured places in division-level volleyball competitions in different age categories after putting up an impressive performance in a recently held selection competition.
The achievement has brought cheer among villagers, club members, parents and sports enthusiasts.
In the under-17 girls’ category, Ruchika, Yukti, Reshmi and Neha were selected. In the under-19 girls’ category, Vasundhara and Payal also earned selection for the division-level competition after putting up an impressive performance. During the selection process, the players demonstrated strong sporting skills, discipline and team spirit. The performance of girls from rural areas reflects their growing participation and potential in sports.
Players in the boys’ categories also put up a notable performance. In the under-14 boys’ category, Bhima, Lucky Pal and Lokesh Verma were selected, while in the under-17 boys’ category, Jitesh Verma, Anurag Verma, Lokesh Pal and Vikram Pal secured places in the division-level competition.
The selection demonstrates that with regular practice, proper guidance and the necessary resources, young players from rural areas can also showcase their talent on bigger platforms.
Through Mayur Club, the Adani Foundation is providing regular sports training, sports equipment, opportunities to participate in competitions and guidance from experienced coaches to children and youth in the region. The initiative aims not only to connect young people with sports but also to promote confidence, leadership skills, discipline and a healthy lifestyle among them.
The efforts have resulted in Mayur Club players consistently making their mark in district- and division-level competitions.
Coaches at Mayur Club said the selected players had been undergoing regular practice for a long time and that their hard work had now translated into success. They expressed confidence that the players would perform well at State- and national-level competitions in the coming years and bring recognition to the region.
