
Company says India among its three key global markets; plans to introduce new SUV models from 2028
Raipur : Honda Cars India has unveiled its roadmap for expanding its business in India through 2030, identifying the country as one of its three key priority markets globally and stating that India will play an important role in the company’s future growth.
As part of the strategy, the company is preparing to introduce new global and India-focused models in the Indian market, along with cost-efficient vehicles.
According to the company, new vehicles will be introduced in the sub-four-metre SUV and mid-size SUV segments from 2028. Honda is also preparing to introduce its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) in India in the second half of financial year 2026-27. Road testing of the vehicle has already commenced in India.
As part of the company’s expansion strategy, the recently launched new Honda City and the global premium hybrid SUV, the all-new Honda ZR-V, were presented in Raipur on Tuesday. The company said Chhattisgarh is among its key markets and that models such as the Honda City, Elevate and Amaze continue to receive a good response from customers in the State.
Kunal Behl, Vice-President, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India, said the company was entering an important phase of growth in India. He said the company was working on plans to introduce six new vehicles in the country this year. Chhattisgarh, he added, remained an important market for Honda, with customers continuing to repose their trust in the brand.
New Honda City gets sporty design and ADAS
The new Honda City has been introduced with a new sporty design, premium features and advanced safety technology. It comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and USB-C charging.
The car is equipped with Honda Sensing ADAS technology, which includes the Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Lead Car Departure Notification and Auto High Beam.
The new City is available with petrol and strong hybrid powertrain options. The hybrid e:HEV model claims a fuel efficiency of up to 27.26 km per litre.
New City starts at ₹12.07 lakh in Raipur
The new Honda City is priced from ₹12.07 lakh to ₹21.43 lakh, ex-showroom, in Raipur. The different variants are available with MT, CVT and e:HEV options. An additional charge will apply for pearl exterior colours.
ZR-V hybrid SUV priced at ₹47.99 lakh
Honda also presented its premium hybrid SUV, the all-new ZR-V, in Raipur. The SUV comes with a 2.0-litre sports hybrid system, a dual-motor hybrid setup and an e-CVT. According to the company, it delivers a combined power output of 184 PS and 315 Nm of torque. Its claimed fuel efficiency is 22.79 km per litre.
The ZR-V features 18-inch alloy wheels, full LED lighting, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, a 9-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging and a 12-speaker Bose surround sound system.
In terms of safety, the SUV is equipped with Honda Sensing ADAS, along with eight airbags, a 360-degree camera, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Descent Control and Driver Attention Monitor.
The ZR-V is priced at ₹47.99 lakh, ex-showroom, in Raipur. The model is being brought to India from Japan as a completely built unit (CBU) and is positioned as the flagship model in Honda’s premium hybrid SUV portfolio.
The company has also introduced warranty packages with both models. The new City comes with a three-year unlimited-kilometre standard warranty, which can be extended up to seven years. The ZR-V also comes with a three-year unlimited-kilometre standard warranty, along with separate warranty provisions for the hybrid system and battery.
