
Over 350 women participate in community safety programme
Raipur : The 55th National Safety Month was observed with a large-scale awareness programme in Chhattoud village, organised jointly by Adani Power Limited, Raipur, and the Adani Foundation. The initiative aimed to strengthen safety awareness in rural communities and witnessed the active participation of over 350 women from nearby villages, including Chhattoud, Raikheda, Tarsoiw and Gayatra.

The programme focused on promoting practical knowledge of safety measures and fostering a culture of responsibility among community members.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Gurjeet Singh, Traffic DSP, Raipur, attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the importance of road safety, adherence to traffic regulations, and preventive measures to reduce accidents. He emphasised that road safety is not merely about following rules but a shared responsibility that must be reflected in everyday behaviour.
Swati Verma, Member of the District Panchayat and Chairperson, Raipur, was present as the guest of honour. She spoke on issues related to women’s empowerment, rural safety, and community development, stating that a secure environment forms the foundation of a strong society. She also appreciated the enthusiastic participation of women in large numbers.

As part of the programme, three specialised training sessions were conducted. A session on home safety, led by Ashish Tamrakar, provided practical tips to prevent domestic accidents. Another session on electrical safety by Suryakant Sahu focused on the safe use of electrical appliances. A road safety session, conducted by Manas Ranjan Das, highlighted precautions to prevent road accidents.
A quiz competition was also organised to reinforce learning, in which participants took part with enthusiasm. Kunti Verma, Ritu Dhruv, Diksha Verma, Tina Sahu, Kaushalya Dhivar, Sangeeta Chatri, Veena Pandey, Shivani Sahu, Monika Verma, Jiteshwari Yadav and Radhika Verma were declared winners and felicitated.

Local residents appreciated the initiative, noting that such programmes play a vital role in enhancing safety awareness and should be organised regularly to build a more informed, secure, and empowered community.
