Government Committed to Protecting Tribal Interests and Ensuring Their All-Round Development: Chief Minister Shri Sai

Raipur : Appreciating the collaborated commitment for progress by duo Central and State governments, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday said that under the able leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the double engine government is firmly committed to safeguard the interests of Tribal communities and ensuring their holistic development.  The Chief Minister was addressing the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas  – Tribal Pride Day and Talent Felicitation Ceremony held at Ambagarh Chowki in the Mohla–Manpur–Ambagarh Chowki district.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister performed ‘bhoomipujan’ and inaugurated development works worth over Rs 475 crore. He announced that Ambagarh Chowki would be made a revenue subdivision and that a fully equipped auditorium would be constructed there. He also transferred the 22nd instalment of the Mahtari Vandan scheme directly into the bank accounts of beneficiary women. The programme was presided over by Legislative Assembly Speaker  Dr Raman Singh.
Recalling the contribution of former Prime Minister late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee in formation of Chhattisgarh and the welfare of tribal communities, Shri Sai said that continuous efforts are being made by the Central and State Governments under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the overall development of tribal and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). Through the PM Janman and Gram Utkarsh schemes, all essential facilities are being provided to tribal families to ensure their inclusion in the mainstream.
The Chief Minister said that the Chhattisgarh Government is about to complete two years of its tenure on December 13. He noted that the government has fulfilled all guarantees made under “Modi Ki Guarantee” during these two years. Under the Mahtari Vandan scheme, Rs 1,000 is deposited every month in the bank accounts of women beneficiaries. He added that farmers are receiving payment for paddy at the rate of Rs 3,100 per quintal for 21 quintals per acre, and Tendu leaf collectors are being paid Rs 5,500 per standard bag. Distribution of Charan Paduka- footwear for Tendu leaf collectors has also been resumed.
Chief Minister Sai said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah have resolved to eliminate the biggest obstacle to the development of the nation and the state—Maoism—by March 2026. He stated that the Chhattisgarh Government, in close coordination with the Central Government, is undertaking strong and effective measures to free the state from Maoist terror. He expressed confidence that Chhattisgarh will soon be completely free from Maoist extremism. Paying tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the Chief Minister said that he is a source of pride not only for the tribal community but for the entire nation. He also highlighted the significant contributions of tribal heroes and freedom fighters to India’s independence and nation-building. He said that the visit of President Smt Droupadi Murmu to Surguja on the occasion of Bhagwan Birsa Munda Jayanti is a matter of honour and pride for all. Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh said that the successful implementation of welfare schemes by the Central and State Governments has brought far-reaching changes in Chhattisgarh. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, a new chapter of development is being written across the state, and significant transformation is visible from Bastar to Surguja. He also elaborated on the pro-people initiatives and policies of the Chhattisgarh Government. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, MP Shri Santosh Pandey, District Panchayat President Smt Namrata Singh and Tribal Community State President Shri MD Thakur also addressed the gathering. In the ceremony, tribal achievers excelling in various fields were felicitated, Prime Minister Awas beneficiaries were given completion certificates, and meritorious students who succeeded in various competitive exams were honoured. The programme was attended by MLA Shri Bholaram Sahu, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Shri Neelu Sharma, Chairman of the Labour Welfare Board Shri Yogesh Dutt Mishra, several former legislators, representatives of Panchayat and urban bodies, community leaders and a large number of people.
