Lormi : For the second consecutive year, a district-level Sua folk dance competition dedicated to the folk culture of Chhattisgarh was held. Held at the Agar Sports Complex under the auspices of the Shri Ram Prabhat Ferry and Hanuman Chalisa Path Samiti, Mungeli, patron Mr. Ramesh Kulmitra, and state president Mr. Puhup Ram Sahu, 70 teams participated and showcased their art. The first-place school was Ma Ganga Devi Public School, Bodtara Kala, Lormi. This school is a leader in the all-round development of children, as well as in moral and traditional education. The Sua dance depicted the daily routine of villagers through scenes such as grazing cows, milking cows, Hareli Gedi, Rakhi, Sawan Monday, pounding paddy with a mortar and pestle, extracting flour from a Jatwa, pounding rice, cleaning rice, making rotis, making ropes from a Dhera, plastering the house for Diwali, collecting grass for cows, schoolchildren returning from school, and combing hair. The performance captivated the audience and guests. The students who secured first place in the jury were presented with trophies and prizes of ₹21,000 by the respected Shrikant Pandey (District Panchayat President, Mungeli). On this occasion, the school manager, Mr. Tularam Sahu, blessed the children and explained that the Sua folk dance is an important part of Chhattisgarh’s folk culture. In this dance, women and girls place paddy in a bamboo basket, decorate a clay parrot on top, and dance while singing the Sua song. Such events provide an opportunity to learn and explore folk culture, helping to keep this legacy of traditions alive. It was also stated that this achievement is not ordinary but extraordinary, reflecting the hard work of the children and teachers. The school’s Principal, Mr. Jitendra Pathe, wished the children to always achieve such first positions and extended his congratulations and best wishes to all the children and teachers. On this occasion, school manager Mr. Tularam Sahu, Principal Mr. Jitendra Pathe, Vice Principal and Cultural Incharge Mr. Lalaram Ghritalhare, Cultural Incharge Mrs. Laxmin Yadav, Mr. Sureshchandra Nanda, Mrs. Sumati Nanda, Mr. Rajesh Ghritalhare, Mr. Dileshwar Patre, Mr. Chandrakumar Mahilange, Mr. Surjeet Bhaskar, Mr. Hemram Chandrakar, Mr. Triloki Sahu, Mr. Nilesh Jaiswal, Mr. Mansu Sahu, Mr. Deepak Vishwakarma Sir, Mr. Suraj Sahu, Ms. Ishtami Ogre, Ms. Bhimeshwari Ratre, Ms. Sangeeta Manikpuri, Mrs. Preeti Dandia, Mr. Satish Yadav, Mr. Lalu Yadav, Mr. Manish Chaturvedi, Mr. Ravi Nishad etc. were present with dignity on this occasion.
