Raipur : In a bid to unlock Chhattisgarh’s rice export potential, senior Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officials visited the Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Naya Raipur on Wednesday. The visit, led by Ms. G. Gayatri, Area Head (Area–III), and Ms. Anita Barik, Cluster Head (Hyderabad), focused on strengthening logistics, boosting trade, and facilitating smoother cargo movement from the state.

A high-level meeting with Shri Alok Trivedi, Executive Director, Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC), explored ways to promote rice exports through the facility with state government support. Trivedi assured full cooperation in strengthening both export and domestic trade channels.

The officials also met the Divisional Railway Manager, South East Central Railway, Raipur, to discuss optimizing rail operations and enhancing the Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) facility for seamless cargo handling.

At an interactive session with trade stakeholders, including Dr. Mukesh Jain, President, Chhattisgarh Rice Export Association, exporters flagged two major concerns—shortage of empty containers and high inland haulage charges. Responding, Ms. Gayatri assured that CONCOR would take up the matter with leading shipping lines and urged exporters to utilize CONCOR containers, highlighting the corporation’s newly launched shipping service.

Separate discussions were also held with Smt. Reena Babasaheb Kangale, IAS, Secretary – Food, Government of Chhattisgarh, and Smt. Kiran Kaushal, IAS, Managing Director, C.G. Markfed. Talks focused on easing rice movement and encouraging greater domestic cargo utilization of MMLP.

The visit ended on a positive note with officials appreciating the proactive role of CSIDC, state government representatives, rice exporters, and trade stakeholders. The collaborative push is expected to accelerate business growth through MMLP, Naya Raipur, positioning it as a key hub for both exports and domestic logistics.
