HNLU to Host National Conference on Digital Dignity: Safeguarding Human Rights in the Age of Technology

Raipur : Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), New Raipur, has announced a one-day National Conference on “Digital Dignity: Safeguarding Human Rights in the Age of Technology,” scheduled to be held online on September 6, 2025. Organized jointly by the Centre for Law and Human Rights and the Centre for Law and Sciences under the Schools of Law & Humanities and Law & Technology, the conference will address the growing human rights challenges arising from rapid digital transformation. With technological tools empowering societies globally, new threats such as surveillance, data privacy breaches, algorithmic biases, and misinformation have emerged. The conference will examine these issues and discuss strategies to safeguard fundamental rights in the digital sphere. It also aims to highlight the need for formal recognition of emerging digital rights, including digital access, wellbeing, and secure communications. The interdisciplinary event is expected to bring together scholars, legal experts, technologists, policymakers, and students to deliberate on how human rights must be protected in digital spaces with the same rigor as in physical realms. Participants are invited to present research papers on various subthemes, including digital access as a human right, online safety for children and vulnerable groups, labor rights in the gig economy, platform governance, privacy versus surveillance, and the ethical implications of emerging technologies. Abstract submissions are open until August 16, with notifications of acceptance by August 18. Full papers are due by August 30. Selected papers may be published in an edited volume with an ISBN.
Registration fees are ₹1500 for faculty and professionals and ₹1000 for research scholars and students. Co-authorship is permitted for up to two authors, with separate registration required. E-certificates will be issued to participants attending the entire event.
HNLU, celebrating its 20th year, has launched several research initiatives bridging law, science, and technology. The conference aligns with its mission to foster dialogue on emerging legal challenges in the digital era.
