Bilaspur,Chhattisgarh : While three murder incidents within five hours on the day of Holi raised serious law-and-order concerns in Raipur, the situation remained largely peaceful in Bilaspur due to a strict and well-planned security strategy by the police.
Under the leadership of Rajnesh Singh, the district police implemented extensive security arrangements across the city. Heavy police deployment at major intersections, sensitive zones, and crowded areas, along with continuous patrolling, ensured that anti-social elements stayed away from public spaces throughout the day.
Except for a few minor incidents, the Holi festival in Bilaspur passed in a peaceful and celebratory atmosphere. From early morning, residents across neighbourhoods and colonies celebrated the festival with colours and greetings, reflecting the traditional spirit of Holi.
Strong Security Deployment
Keeping the festival in mind, police had already put in place elaborate security measures. Teams were stationed at key intersections and sensitive locations, while mobile patrol units remained active across the city to prevent any untoward incidents. A reserve force was also kept on standby for emergency response.
Police teams were particularly active in the major police station areas of Sarkanda and Civil Lines. Continuous monitoring ensured that the city remained largely free from serious disturbances.
72-Hour Vigil Under SSP’s Command
To ensure a safe and peaceful Holi, Bilaspur Police adopted a special strategy this year. SSP Rajnesh Singh personally supervised the security arrangements and remained in the field with officers and personnel.
For nearly 72 hours, police teams maintained strict surveillance across important junctions, sensitive areas, and crowded places. Senior officers carried out regular patrols and also met personnel deployed on duty, encouraging them for their dedication.
During inspections, the SSP interacted with officers and constables on duty, appreciating their commitment and urging them to remain vigilant.
Officers Led From the Front
Senior officers also actively monitored the situation across urban and rural areas. These included Pankaj Patel, Madhulika Singh, Ramgopal Kariyare, Nimitesh Singh and Gagan Kumar, who conducted patrols throughout the day and reviewed the security arrangements.
SSP’s Message to Citizens
SSP Rajnesh Singh said that compared to the previous year, only a few minor disputes were reported and no serious incident occurred. “Police kept a close watch on anti-social elements. Those who continued to indulge in criminal activities were arrested and strict action was taken. Adequate police force was deployed at all major intersections and important locations so that citizens, especially women and children, could celebrate the festival without fear. This was possible because of the cooperation and trust of the people of Bilaspur. This is what community policing stands for.”
He also appealed to the youth to stay away from substance abuse and focus on a healthy life. “Say no to drugs and yes to life. The youth are the future of the country. Stay away from crime and live a healthy life.”
As a result of coordinated policing and public cooperation, this year’s Holi in Bilaspur concluded as a symbol of peace, harmony and responsible celebration.
