Raipur/Jashpur । In a powerful stride towards raising awareness on human trafficking, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shashi Mohan Singh premiered his latest short film ‘Kajri – The Battle for Freedom’ on Sunday in the dignified presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at his residence in Bagia village, Jashpur.

The special screening, attended by public representatives, senior police officers, and villagers in large numbers, drew heartfelt appreciation from the Chief Minister, who called the film “educational, thought-provoking, and socially relevant.” He praised SSP Singh and his team for addressing the intricacies of how traffickers operate and exploit victims through modern platforms like social media, and for presenting the rescue process in a compelling and relatable manner.

“Such awareness efforts not only educate but also empower citizens. Families and communities must remain vigilant and discourage friendships with unknown individuals on digital platforms,” CM Sai said after watching the film. His wife, Smt Kaushalya Sai, echoed similar sentiments, emphasising that the film should be circulated extensively through social media and community screenings in rural belts.

SSP Shashi Mohan Singh, who has earlier won national accolades for his films Yatana, Gomti, and KOTPA, explained that ‘Kajri’ captures the disturbing trend of how young tribal girls are lured online and trafficked, and how the police rescue operations unfold. The film has now been released on YouTube for broader outreach.

Featuring SSP Singh himself as a police officer and popular Chhollywood actress Nandini Sinha as a Deputy Superintendent of Police, the film also stars seasoned artistes Sharad Srivastava, Divya Nagdev, and Utkarsh Srivastava. The screenplay was written by Toran Rajput, with story credits to SSP Singh. Police personnel like SDOP Jashpur Chandra Shekhar Parma and Inspector Ravi Shankar Tiwari also contributed to the production.

Local pride was reflected in the casting, with Akanksha Toppo, a well-known YouTuber from Jashpur, playing the titular role of Kajri, supported by Kaiser Hussain, Praveen Agrawal, and Bittu in pivotal roles.

SSP Singh remarked after the screening that the team was greatly encouraged by the Chief Minister’s appreciation and directive to create more socially impactful films. “We are committed to continuing this creative mission to spread awareness through the medium of cinema,” he said.
