NIT Raipur Rajbhasha Committee Holds Workshop on Hindi Typing and Unicode

Raipur : The Rajbhasha Committee of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur organised a Hindi Workshop on Thursday, aimed at creating awareness about the importance of Hindi and introducing participants to the practical use of Unicode in digital communication. The workshop was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in the presence of Dr. Manoj Kumar Chopkar, Dean (Student Welfare), faculty members, staff, and students.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Bhupendra Pandey, Senior Translator Officer, Office of the Principal Commissioner, Central Goods & Services Tax, Raipur. In his presentation, Mr. Pandey explained different methods of typing in Hindi and other Indian languages, highlighting the role of Unicode in ensuring uniformity and accessibility across digital platforms. He also shared details of his website, designed to support students in learning Hindi typing. The interactive session concluded with feedback from participants, many of whom appreciated the practical insights gained during the workshop. In his closing remarks, Dr. Sanjay Kumar expressed gratitude to the Institute’s Director for supporting the initiative and urged participants to actively promote Hindi in their academic and professional work. The programme also recognised the winners of the “Letter to Premchand” competition organised on Munshi Premchand Jayanti. The workshop, guided by Dr. Sanjay Kumar and Dr. Sharda Nandan Raw, served as a significant platform for understanding the digital application of Hindi and strengthening the role of the language in the modern era.
