Launch of ‘Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025’ in Bilaspur, a new platform for youth fitness and sports talent

Bilaspur : On National Sports Day, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Mr. Tokhan Sahu inaugurated ‘Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025’ at B.R. Yadav International Sports Stadium, Bahatarai, Bilaspur, and also launched the registration portal of the Mahotsav.

On the birth anniversary of hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand, the Minister described this event as a Mahakumbh of sports, saying that it is not just a competition but a grand platform to imbibe values of discipline, team spirit and leadership among the youth.

At the inauguration, floral tributes were offered to the statue of Major Dhyan Chand and he was remembered, while greetings were extended to players, coaches and sports association officials.

The registration for the Mahotsav will continue till September 20, 2025. He said that only a healthy and energetic youth can lay the foundation of a developed India, and this Mahotsav is a golden opportunity to identify local sports talents and prepare them for the future. The Mahotsav will include both traditional and modern sports such as football, volleyball, kho-kho, hockey, wrestling, badminton, cricket and mallakhamb.

Special competitions will also be organized for women and differently-abled players so that no talent is left behind. The biggest feature of the Mahotsav is that players from every village and every street will get the chance to showcase their talent through open competition.

The event will also select ‘Namo Fit India Leaders’ to give special recognition to youth promoting sports. At the same time, outstanding players will be provided with scholarships, cash prizes, sports equipment and professional coaching facilities.
On this occasion, senior MLA Dharamlal Kaushik, MLA Sushant Shukla, District Panchayat President Rajesh Suryavanshi, Mayor Vani Rao, former Minister Krishnamurti Bandhi and District General Secretary S. Manhar along with several public representatives were present.

From the district administration, Collector Sanjay Agrawal, Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh, Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar, District Panchayat CEO Sandeep Agrawal, officials of the Sports Department and various sports associations were also present.
