New Delhi . To promote the development of sports in Chhattisgarh and enhance sports culture at the grassroots level, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu met Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and Labor and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the need to upgrade sports infrastructure in key areas of the state, especially Bilaspur and Mungeli districts.

During the meeting, Shri Sahu stressed the importance of investing in sports infrastructure to connect the local youth with sports and inspire a healthy competitive spirit. Earlier, Shri Sahu had sent a letter to Mansukh Mandaviya highlighting the long standing demand of local public representatives, villagers and sports lovers for the development of sports facilities in Bilaspur and Mungeli districts. He said that there is immense potential in promoting young talent in these areas and setting up state-of-the-art sports facilities will encourage the youth to actively participate in sports, thereby creating a new generation of athletes. Shri Sahu said that “It is important to improve sports infrastructure at the grassroots level to unleash the amazing potential of our youth.” “With the right support and facilities, Chhattisgarh can become a hub for emerging sporting talent and this initiative under ‘Khelo India’ will play a vital role in that transformation.” pleasure of mindMandaviya assured Shri Sahu of the Ministry’s commitment to support the development of sports infrastructure in the region. He informed that the Ministry has already approved a total of 07 sports infrastructure, 31 Khelo India Centers and 04 recognized academies under Khelo India Scheme in Chhattisgarh. Shri Sahu expressed his gratitude to the Youth Affairs and Sports Minister for his unwavering support in ensuring that the youth of Chhattisgarh have access to world-class facilities and opportunities to excel in various sports disciplines.
