Home Minister Amit Shah virtually flagged off the Cyclothon on March 7th, 2025, from Thakkolam, Tamil Nadu. Two teams of 125 CISF cyclists, including 14 women, cycled 6,553 km across 11 states/UTs in 25 days in which Constable Shailendra Kumar Yadav from CISF Unit KSTPP Korba also participated in this event. Over 1,100 participants joined at various stages, demonstrating public support.
The rally, a ‘first-of-its-kind’ endeavor covering India’s entire mainland coastline, concluded at Kanyakumari on March 31st, 2025. It highlighted CISF’s commitment to securing India’s coast, crucial for trade and energy security, given threats like smuggling along its 250+ ports (including 72 major ports handling 95% of trade volume and 70% of value) and 135 strategic coastal establishments.
For over five decades, CISF has protected coastal assets. This cyclothon raised awareness of coastal security threats and strengthened community partnerships. The event received strong support from communities, CISF units, and other agencies. Receptions and flag-offs occurred at major coastal cities and landmarks like Paradip, Konark, Mumbai, Vizag, Mangalore, and Chennai, with significant public participation.
Cyclists underwent rigorous selection and a month-long training regime focusing on stamina, nutrition, and safety. The selection included medical assessments, fitness tests, and endurance evaluations. Training at RTC Barwaha emphasized long-distance cycling, hill climbs, interval training, cross-training, nutrition, and recovery.

Dignitaries such as Puducherry Lt Governor Honble Sh Kuniyil Kailashnathan, Puducherry Chief Minister Sh N. Rangaswamy, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Smt. PravatiParida, Arjuna Awardee Pramod Bhagat, Indian Hockey Veteran Mir Ranjan Negi, Raja Shri Shivendra Narayan Bhanj Deo (King of Kanishka), Padma Shri Sand Artist SudarsanPattnaik, Public representatives graced the events and lent their support.
