Raigad । Rural women of Pusaur development block of Raigad district are now taking strong steps towards self -sufficiency through collective farming. The initiative to promote livelihoods conducted by Adaani Foundation under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program of Adani Power Limited, Raigad has empowered these women with modern agricultural techniques.

The women started cultivation of Saaho variety tomatoes from October 2024. The Adi Foundation provided essential materials like mulching, fertilizer, fertilizer, pesticides and advanced seeds. As a result, 74,376 kg tomatoes were produced between December 2024 to March 2025, earning an income of ₹ 3.48 lakh. 2,500 kg of bitter gourd was also produced in the first crop cycle in Supa village, which was ₹ 55,155. Overall, these women sold vegetables worth ₹ 4.03 lakh.
Under this scheme, a total of 59 women members of 23 self -help groups (SHGS) of villages Supa, Barpali, Jewidih, Taparda and Thangagudhi villages have started cultivation of tomatoes, cucumbers and bitter gourd by drip irrigation method. In collaboration with SBI-RSETI Raigad, these women were also given a 10-day training on vegetable production free of cost.
After training, Sita Bai Yadav of Chandrahasini Self Help Group, who cultivates bitter gourd in Supa village, said, “This training provided by Adani Foundation has given us information about the modern method of farming.Which all of us women have used the technique of getting more production in less time by doing collective farming. And today we have received more and better crops than this. We are all very excited by this success. With this initiative of Adani Foundation, all of us are moving towards becoming self -sufficient. ”
On this success of collective farming, the Ganga Self Help Group of Barpali village who cultivates tomatoes, Shanti Bharati said, “We were trained by Adani Foundation to cultivate three months ago by modern method. After which we have adopted all those techniques in collective farming.Today our hard work has brought color. We are getting more success than expected, this has also increased our income. Women of all of us groups are very happy. We thank Adani Foundation for this. ”
Program Manager of Adaani Foundation said that so far a total of 28 groups have been trained for modern agriculture, out of which 23 groups have been producing vegetables for the last two years. Their produce is being sold at places like Patelpali Mandi and Chandrapur in Raigad. He said, “This initiative is not only a livelihood, but a story of social and economic change. Adani Foundation will be committed to women empowerment and regional development in future also.”
