Vanmali Srijan Kendras, which are continuously active in promoting the activities of art, literature, culture and social concerns of remote rural areas and towns, have been established at the district and zonal level. In the year 1934, his first story ‘Jildsaaz’ was published in the monthly ‘Vishwamitra’ published from Calcutta and after that, for about twenty-five years, he appeared in the prestigious literary magazines ‘Saraswati’, ‘Kahaani’, ‘Vishwamitra’, ‘Vishal Bharat’, ‘Lokamitra’. ‘, ‘Bharti’, ‘Maya’, ‘Madhuri’ etc. were published regularly. Due to the intensity of feeling, dramatic effect in the story, subtle psychological understanding and ability of analysis, his stories received appreciation from both the wide readership and critics. Acharya Nanddulare Bajpayee had included his story ‘Man and Dog’ in his collection of best stories. For about twenty years, Vanamali’s stories were taught in many schools and colleges of Madhya Pradesh. He wrote more than a hundred stories, satires and essays. Apart from fiction, his satirical essays have also been quite popular. His stories continued to be broadcast regularly from Akashvani Indore. Apart from fiction, ‘Vanamali’ had a notable contribution in the field of education. He was among the leading educationists of undivided Madhya Pradesh. On the call of Mahatma Gandhi, he remained engaged in the work of adult education for many years. Then he worked as a teacher, headmaster and deputy director in Bilaspur, Khandwa and Bhopal and meanwhile, due to innovation in schools and teaching methods through his books and as a member of the committee of the National Educational Research Council, he made a name for himself in the world of education. Had made an important place. In the year 1962, Dr. He was awarded the President’s Award by Radhakrishnan. Vanmali was born on 01 August 1912 in Agra. He lived his entire life in Madhya Pradesh and died on 30 April 1976 in Bhopal. His first story collection ‘Jildsaaj’ was published after his death in 1983 and his second collection named ‘Pratinidhi Kahaniyaan’ was published in 1995. In the year 2008, the first volume of Vanamali Samagra and in the year 2011, two more volumes titled ‘Vanamali Smriti’ and ‘Vanamali Srijan’ have been published under the editorship of Santosh Chabey.
