In the year 1973, he launched his first album ‘Living in the Material World’. In his career spanning six decades, composer Zakir Hussain has worked with many renowned international and Indian artists. In the year 1978, Zakir Hussain married Kathak dancer Antonia Minicola, they have two daughters, Anisa Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi. In the year 1983, Zakir Hussain entered the field of acting with the film ‘Heat and Dust’. After this, he also acted in the films ‘The Perfect Murder’ in the year 1988, ‘Miss Betty’s Childers’ in the year 1992 and ‘Saaz’ in the year 1998. Ustad Zakir Hussain was awarded Padma Vibhushan in the year 2023, Padma Shri in the year 1988, Padma Bhushan in the year 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in the year 2023. He received his first Grammy Award in the year 2009 and in the year 2024 he also won three Grammys for three different albums, thus Zakir Hussain had won a total of four Grammy Awards.
