Adani Group conducts two-day awareness drive in five villages; over 400 school students participate
Surguja (Udaipur) – In observance of World Earth Day, the Environment Department of the Adani Group at the Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited’s (RRVUNL) PEKB coal mine in Sarguja district organized a two-day environmental awareness campaign. The event was held on April 21 and 22 under the global theme “Our Earth, Our Strength,” spanning the villages of Parsa, Basen, Ghatbarra, Tara, and Salhi.

The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from more than 400 students from government schools, girls’ hostels, and Adani Vidya Mandir. Activities like drawing, rangoli, and essay writing were conducted in two categories — Classes 1 to 5 and Classes 6 to 10 — aimed at fostering a deeper connection with environmental conservation among young minds.

Students who secured first, second, and third positions were felicitated by their school heads and officials from the Adani Environment Department. Teachers praised the initiative, calling it an impactful way to instill ecological responsibility in children. “Such programs inspire young learners to respect and preserve nature,” said a local school teacher.

In addition to educational outreach, RRVUNL and Adani’s CSR interventions have included infrastructural upgrades in 14 nearby villages. This includes the repair and beautification of local schools with ‘BaLA’ (Building as Learning Aid) painting, construction of additional classrooms and toilets, road development, and renovation of passenger shelters. Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, over 1.5 million trees have been planted on more than 450 hectares of reclaimed mining land in the region.
