Students educated about child rights, cybercrime and laws related to women’s and children’s safety
Sakti/Hasoud: A legal awareness camp was organised at the Government Girls Middle School in Hasoud under the directions of the Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority, Janjgir-Champa, and under the guidance of the Chairperson of the Taluka Legal Services Committee, Jaijaipur.
The camp was organised with the objective of making students aware of their legal rights and various laws designed to protect children and women.
During the programme, Paralegal Volunteer Bhagwati Bhardwaj explained the formation and objectives of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). She also briefed the students about cybercrime and the role of cyber cells, as well as legal provisions relating to kidnapping, child marriage, child labour, juvenile offences and the Motor Vehicles Act.
Students learn about POCSO and child protection laws
The students were informed about their fundamental rights, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.
They were also provided with important helpline numbers that can be used when assistance is required:

Students were encouraged to use these services whenever they or someone they know faces a legal problem, abuse or a situation requiring immediate assistance.
Information on NALSA schemes and women’s safety app
The programme also covered the NALSA Scheme for Legal Services to Children and their Protection, 2015, and the NALSA Scheme for Legal Services to Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation, 2015.
Participants were additionally introduced to the ‘Abhivyakti’ Women Safety App, which is designed to support the safety of women and girls. Students were encouraged to download and familiarise themselves with the application.
Students encouraged to seek legal help
A large number of students attended the programme along with the school’s teachers and staff.
The awareness camp aimed to help students understand their rights, recognise situations involving crime or exploitation and seek assistance through the appropriate legal and support mechanisms whenever necessary.
