Jashpur Emerging on the Global Tourism Map Under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s Initiative
Raipur : Driven by the vision of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the state government’s tourism promotion policies, Jashpur is steadily making its mark on the world tourism map. This growing recognition was evident recently when two tourists from Germany — Mr. Bernhard and Mrs. Franziska — were deeply captivated by the tribal culture, art, and warmth of the people of Jashpur.
As part of a tourism program organised by the local startup “Trippy Hills”, the visitors explored the intricacies of tribal life in the region. Their journey began with the Malar community, renowned for its handmade jewellery and craftsmanship. The creativity and skill of these artisans left the guests spellbound.
At the village of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) Pahadi Korwa, they witnessed the community’s traditional lifestyle and deep harmony with nature. During their visit to the Agariya community, they observed a live demonstration of the traditional iron-smelting technique — an experience that fascinated them immensely. The tour concluded at a vibrant local haat (weekly market), where colourful fabrics, the earthy scent of clay, and the rhythms of traditional tribal music brought the heartbeat of Jashpur’s cultural spirit to life.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has consistently emphasised that Jashpur’s tribal culture is not merely a heritage to be preserved, but a powerful avenue for tourism-driven development. Under his leadership, the expansion of roads, communication, and infrastructure is paving the way for new tourism circuits in the region. Through collaborations with organisations like “Culture Devi” and “Unexplored Bastar”, local communities are being empowered to showcase their artistry and traditions to the world.
This unique cultural experience stands as a testament to Chhattisgarh’s growing global identity — where tradition, nature, and modernity beautifully converge to create an unforgettable experience for every visitor.
