National Sports Day celebrated at Niranjan Kesharwani College, Kota

Kargi Road, Kota : Government Niranjan Kesharwani College, Kota, marked National Sports Day with a series of sporting events organised by the Department of Physical Education. Competitions in kabaddi, volleyball, kho-kho, and badminton were held for both men and women students, drawing enthusiastic participation across the campus.
The programme commenced with a floral tribute and lamp-lighting ceremony before the portrait of Major Dhyan Chand, India’s legendary hockey player, by College Principal Dr. Naz Benjamin. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Benjamin stressed the importance of sports in developing discipline, fitness, and mental strength. “Games and physical activities not only nurture the body but also sharpen the mind. Every individual should include sports, yoga, and meditation in daily life for holistic growth,” he said.
College Sports Officer Rajesh Singh underlined the significance of the day, observing that it is celebrated nationwide in honour of Major Dhyan Chand, whose dedication and achievements redefined Indian hockey. He highlighted the college’s long-standing reputation in sports across Chhattisgarh, noting that many students from Kota have excelled at various competitions. “With determination and consistent effort, students can bring glory to themselves, their college, their parents, and their mentors,” he remarked.
Faculty members and staff attended the event, encouraging the players and extending best wishes for their future endeavours. The celebrations concluded with loud cheers for the participating teams, making the occasion a vibrant tribute to India’s sporting spirit.
