Raipur । National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur’s Department of Information Technology organized an inauguration ceremony for the IBITF (NM-ICPS), DST sponsored week long workshop entitled “IoT-Health: IoT Enabling Technology, Security, and Its Application on Healthcare” in physical mode on 9th December 2024.
The program was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao, Director of NIT Raipur, and the Guest of Honor, Dr. Anil Kumar Goel (AIIMS Raipur) and Dr. Satya Prakash Sahu Associate Professor, NIT Raipur. The event was chaired by Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Head of the Department Information Technology and Associate Professor and Dr. Rakesh Tripathi, Associate Professor and Dr. Chandrasekhar Jatoth, Assistant Professor, NIT Raipur serving as program coordinators. Their presence was a great honor and source of inspiration for all.
The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries. Dr. Sanjay Kumar delivered the welcome address, providing an overview of the training program. All the dignitaries were introduced to the attendees and were welcomed with a sapling presented by the faculty members. Dr. Anil Kumar Goel (AIIMS Raipur), Dr. Manas (AIIMS Raipur) and Dr. Saikat Majumdar (NIT Raipur) were the speakers for the inaugural session of the training program. They explained about SAM(Severe Acute Malnutrition), nutritional challenges and dietary deficiencies, Global statistics and SAM Prevalence and Role of common Man in reducing SAM cases along with hands-on training in IoT.
They emphasized the integration of IoT in combating malnutrition, showcasing how IoT can offer innovative solutions through real-time monitoring and data collection on nutrition levels, food quality, and health indicators. IoT-enabled devices were highlighted for their ability to track dietary patterns, ensure food safety, and optimize resource distribution in vulnerable regions. Smart sensors and wearables empower healthcare providers to remotely monitor malnourished individuals and deliver targeted interventions, leveraging data-driven strategies and personalized healthcare solutions. The speakers elaborated on how participants could discover new research opportunities by interacting with such eminent experts.
Dr. N. V. Ramana Rao enlightened the attendees on the critical role of IoT-enabling technologies in improving human quality of life. He concluded by emphasizing that IoT is a futuristic and rapidly emerging field with vast potential.
The workshop aims to explore IoT-enabling technologies that provide vital insights and foster innovative applications. The focus will be on recent advances in IoT and their applications in various domains, particularly healthcare. Renowned experts from IITs (Bombay, Hyderabad, Roorkee and Tirupati), AIIMS Raipur, NITs (Warangal, Raipur, Sikkim and Mizoram) and other renowed institutions are set to deliver lectures during the program.
